Make sure your dog is visible in the dark - use reflective material!
Many dog owners are good at putting reflective material on themselves, but often forget their dog. If your dog has no reflective material or a lamp, the driver first sees the dog at 20 meters and then it may be too late.
If your dog gets loose during the dark winter months, reflexes can be vital. Here are some tips to make you look extra good:
- Always use reflective material and a lamp together - the reflex is visible when struck by light, and the lamp will appear when it is completely dark.
- If you walk in the dark and have the dog loose, it is easier to see your dog if it has a lamp.
- If you have a fluffy dog with a lot of fur - make sure that the reflex is visible and maybe choose a reflex vest or reflex quilt instead of a collar that is hidden in the fur.
- Note that a reflective vest is only visible from the side of the dog and not the front or back.
- It is important that even the housekeeper and the mat look good - please use reflective vest, reflective straps around the wrists / arms and a lamp!
Important to note is that reflexes wear out and most only last for one season before they need to be reviewed and cleaned, or simply replaced!
