What is a fly browband?
A fly browband is a fringe band attached to the headcollar or bridle. As the horse moves, the fringes swing and scare away flies from the eyes and forehead – without interfering with the horse's vision or ears.

Materials and fittings
At Petster you will find browbands in soft polyester, durable polypropylene and stylish leather. Most are attached with velcro to the headcollar or bridle, but we also have models with a cheek strap for extra stability in the field.

Frequently asked questions about fly browbands
What is the difference between a fly browband and a fly hood?
A fly browband only covers the forehead and protects using fringes. A fly hood also covers the ears and sometimes the nose, providing more comprehensive protection.
Can I use a fly browband when riding?
Yes, many browbands attach directly to the bridle and work excellently when riding during summer.
Does a fly browband work in the field too?

How do I clean a fly browband?
Synthetic materials can simply be rinsed in lukewarm water. Leather bands are wiped with a damp cloth and conditioned as needed.
How to use a fly browband
- Choose the right size for your horse (see size chart or measure from forehead to nose).
- Attach the browband with velcro around the headcollar or bridle.
- Make sure the fringes hang freely over the forehead without disturbing the horse.
- Combine with a fly rug and insect spray for best protection.
