What are saddle bags?

With side bags you can train the dog or let the dog take some of the packing when you are going on a trip. With side bags for the harness you can easily bring your dog's toys, dog treats, water bottle or anything else you may need on a walk or hike. If you are camping, walking or traveling with the dog, you may bring your own small gadgets or the dog's things and these can be put in the side / sadde bag or packing harness.

A saddle bag, or side bags, is like a backpack that the dog carries. The "backpack" has a bag on each side. You load these evenly on both sides so that the dog does not get a unbalanced load. This works perfectly on hikes, long walks and mountain tours. We recommend that you weigh both sides of the bag before going on a longer trip so that the dog gets a balanced load to carry. This is true even if you use a saddle bag for weight / strength training your dog.

Remember not to pack too heavy or unbalanced so that the dog can carry and stay healthy. When you accustom the dog to a new bag or packing harness, it is advisable to start with no weight in it. Even if your dog is used to carrying, it is good to start without weight when buying new equipment so that the dog's body gets used to it. Fully-grown, healthy dogs can usually carry up to one-third of their own body weight.
