How do I get my puppy to stop biting?
Puppies bite and have sharp teeth which can be charming at first, but when the puppy starts to bite harder and chew on their owners favorite shoes it is not as fun anymore.
Puppies explore with the help of their mouth and teeth and a mischievous, nibbling puppy is nothing more than a sign of good health. But if you have a puppy that chews on furniture or other things in your home that you do not want destroyed - say "No!" calmly and firmly to the puppy and be quick to give it something it has permission to chew on. For example, a toy or chew bone that massages the gums as the cause of the biting may partly be due to teething. This way, the puppy learns quickly what it is allowed and not allowed to chew on.
