How do you get your cat to stop peeing indoors?

There may be various reasons why a cat is urinating indoors. The first thing that needs to be excluded is that the cat is not sick or in pain - does the cat have a urinary tract infection?

If the cat is not sick or in pain, the reason why the cat does not want to use his litter box can be one of the following:

• The cat is unhappy with its litter box - is it possibly too small? Try switching to a larger one.
• The cat is unhappy with the sand in the litter box - try changing sand and see if there is any difference.
• Do you have more than one cat at home - some cats do not want to share a toilet. If you have the opportunity, give the cats one litter box each.
• Do not move the litter box around, find a good spot and leave it there.

If the cat has been peeing in the same place indoors several times, it is important that the smell is washed away properly - use a remedy that removes the urine stain and smell. There are also so-called Get-Off Crystals which discourage the cat from urinating where the crystals are placed. Can be used both indoors and outdoors.
