When you buy a dog, there is a great deal of focus on what the dog may need when you go out for a walk. A good leash, a harness, a necklace, maybe a warming blanket in the winter or a rain blanket for the days when the rain pours down? These are obviously things that are very important - but in the middle of all this, we often forget ourselves as dog owners and the importance of good and functional garments when we are out for a walk.
When you have a dog, you can count on it getting a little dirty - especially during the winter. The dogs get wet and muddy and it is easy for the dog to happen to jump up and shit down your clothes. Therefore, we at Petster believe that the most important garment a dog owner should own is a pair of really good pants! It should be a pair of pants that fit comfortably, feel proper and have many good pockets for everything from dog candy, poop bags, phones and keys. The practicality of a pair of "dog pants" is that you can put them on without being the least bit worried about dirt.
Another thing you become aware of as a dog owner is that the dog needs to come out every day all year round, regardless of the weather ... And of course a walk in persistent rain is not always great fun - but with good rainwear it will at least be much more fun! Be sure to invest in a good shell jacket and rain pants - or why not a long raincoat? With good rainwear, it will not feel quite as daunting to go out on rainy days.
Finally, we want to address the recurring topic every fall - safety reflexes! Safety reflexes can save the life of you and your dog and are therefore extremely important to use. Go through the safety reflexes you have - they wear out and may be seen worse and worse over the years and then need to be replaced.
So in summary - good clothes for us dog owners are at least as important as good clothes for our dogs. Make sure to update your wardrobe with good "dog clothes" for a more comfortable life with your dog. And promise us to never forget the safety reflexes.
