• 1 pc. Foal-gard contains concentrated colostrum, prebiotic vitamins and nutrients.
• 2 pairs of disposable gloves so as not to spread the bacteria of the hands.
• 1 pc. Alcogel to clean hands and keep germs away.
• 2 pcs. rectal gloves if there is a need to feel vaginally how the foal is lying.
• 1 pc. chlorhexidine is poured into a cup and the umbilical stump is dipped into the liquid to be cleaned.
• 2 pcs. towels were used to dry off the foal and mare.
• 1 pc. refractometer was used to check the quality of the colostrum so there are enough antibodies from the mare. The foal is born without antibody protection and therefore it is important that the foal ingests the colostrum no later than two hours after birth, as this gives the foal an immune system.
• 1 pc. breast pump was used to get the milk out of the udder.
• 1 pc. feeding bottle was used for milk replacement if the mare does not give enough milk or the quality is too low.
• 5 pcs. Microlax as mares and foals can get constipated.
• 1 pc. thermometer with tip to check that the mare and foal have not caught a fever.
• 1 pc. cotton, gauze and vetrap are for cleaning and tying up the tail etc.
