Wool & mulesing

Wool and merino wool are used both in the base layers as well as the mid-layers. Wool has a unique ability to regulate body temperature – it can both warm you up as well as cool you down. It’s also self-purifying, antibacterial and completely natural.

Uhip only buys material from cruelty-free suppliers and especially condemns mulesing, a painful procedure to prevent parasites from entering the skin of merino sheep. This method is used in Australia.

Lavalan is one of Uhip’s wool suppliers. Their wool is of high quality, renewable and biodegradable straight from Europe, which is known for having a high standard when it comes to both wool quality and animal welfare. All of Uhip’s equestrian wear is 100 % mulesing free.

Clothing insulation

Uhip doesn’t use down feathers in their outer garments, only a technical polyester down/synthetic down with the exact same properties. They have both a similar feel as well as the same warming abilities as a normal down jacket. And unlike bird down, synthetic down keeps warm both in damp and wet weather. It also dries quickly, is easy to wash and keeps the same shape after every wash. Uhip uses suppliers such as climate friendly Dupont as well as the insulation experts Clo Insulation.

The right materials for the right weather

Smart cuffs

The hood

The hoods on the outer garments are big enough to pull over the helmet in bad weather. It’s also easy to remove the hood since it’s attached with snap fasteners.

Two-way zippers & high back vent

With a two-way zipper you can easily adjust your riding wear to your desired freedom of movement. For colder weather you can zip it up, if you’re going riding and want maximum mobility then you can completely open it.

Elastic bands on the riding coats & riding skirts

The inside of the riding coats and riding skirts are equipped with elastic bands which keeps the sides of the coat or skirt in place while warming your legs. You can open the vent completely while riding for maximum mobility without having to worry about cold thighs.
